The first EU SHIPSAN ACT Joint Action training course was successfully conducted in Tivoli Terme, Rome, Italy from Tuesday 8th to Thursday 10th October 2013. The course was co-organised by the EU SHIPSAN ACT Joint Action and the Italian Ministry of Health.

The SHIPSAN ACT Joint Action funded by the European Commission DG SANCO will organise 10 pilot training courses.

This course has been co-organised by the EU SHIPSAN ACT Joint Action funded by the European Commission, DG SANCO (20122103) and the Italian Ministry of Health, and is designed for operators, officers, crew of passenger ships. The preferred participants would be working at manager or supervisor level, and the training is intended to help allow them to then train others.

In February 2013, the SHIPSAN ACT European Joint Action started. The general objective of the SHIPSAN ACT Joint Action is to strengthen an integrated strategy and sustainable mechanisms at EU level for safeguarding the health of travellers and crew of passenger and cargo ships and for preventing the cross border spread of diseases.
